Entering its third year of development, L is proud to announce its upcoming Linux-based 64-bit Operating System codenamed L OS, with emphasis on performance, security, usability, and readiness for new hardware technologies.
L OS is based on the open source Linux kernel and is a joint effort development of a central core team and worldwide pool of about 11500 Linux programmers and developers and 37 key hardware manufacturers and researchers.
The project has been under development since May, 19th, 2001.Designed from ground up with exceptional help and input from the open source community, L OS will be a newly primed platform to fully take on performance-class hardware and software technologies such as PuRam Drives, Instant-On Technology, SuperBIOS, CacheFlow, upcoming high-bandwidth peripherals and 64-bit hardware.

A pre-alpha release of L OS will be included standard as a multi-boot free of charge distribution on all upcoming Laptop, Desktop, Workstation and Server products and upon reaching mature beta stages, it will be made largely available as a supported free download to the general market.
